JOB SUMMARY:

The Network Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting a stable and secure network environment. This role oversees the configuration, performance, and ongoing maintenance of enterprise network infrastructure across multiple locations.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Maintain and optimize overall network performance and reliability.
  • Develop and operate network monitoring solutions to detect issues and performance trends.
  • Conduct IP address management and auditing.
  • Enhance network security by implementing policies, managing access controls, and enforcing security standards.
  • Oversee end-to-end network architecture and infrastructure planning.
  • Design system configurations and coordinate network hardware and system installation for multiple branch locations.
  • Contribute to infrastructure and network architecture strategy and solution development.
  • Establish, document, and enforce technical standards and best practices.
  • Collaborate with third-party service providers to ensure high-quality delivery of network services.
  • Support organizational goals by completing tasks and project deliverables as required.
  • Configure, deploy, and maintain Cisco switches and wireless access points.
  • Maintain firewalls and ensure vendors adhere to compliance and security requirements.
  • Apply standardized IP addressing templates for each branch location.
  • Create and maintain network documentation using Visio, Excel, and other tools.
  • Lead projects involving ISP aggregation and related initiatives.
  • Assist with integrating newly added locations into the enterprise network.
  • Independently manage network infrastructure rollouts from planning through execution.
  • Serve in an on-call capacity to support network or infrastructure outages and incidents.
  • Configure network equipment and systems with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of network topologies, addressing schemes, and configurations.
  • Manage hardware lifecycle, including identifying end-of-life equipment and coordinating upgrades or replacements.
  • Monitor for network outages and respond immediately when issues arise.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Training, and Certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline; or equivalent professional experience.
  • CCNA or higher certification preferred.

Experience, Knowledge, and Skills:

  • Minimum of 7 years of professional network engineering experience.
  • Proven background in designing, implementing, and managing enterprise networks.
  • Ability to track and manage budgetary considerations.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Extensive experience with network architecture and documentation.
  • Previous experience leading major IT projects or rolling out multi-site infrastructures preferred.
  • Strong project management and prioritization capabilities preferred.

Communication Skills:

  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English with peers, leadership, and end users.

Systems and Software Skills:

  • Proficiency with Cisco Catalyst IOS, Aruba networking, site-to-site VPNs, SD-WAN, firewall administration, Layer 3 routing, Meraki wireless, RADIUS authentication, and CAT5e/CAT6 cabling and termination.
